Hello Ford Sayre Folks,
We are sorry to have to cancel our Ford Sayre New Year’s Family Event (again) this year. While there is snow, it is not very groom-able, and our sources tell us that it is probably not worth skiing on.
We hope that some of you have found snow on which to play. We have been in Quebec skiing with more than 20 FS families on some incredible snow at Mt Ste Anne. We will post pictures in a few days. We send warm wishes for a happy New Year and look forward to seeing you all at our practice on Tuesday.
Cheers,
Ashley & Peter

We’re still planning on a fun afternoon with hot chocolate and candy canes. If your child is joining us today, please remember to send them in a jacket with a waterproof outer layer (as well as mittens and a hat)!
As always, please remember that practice is always optional. You know your child best – and if you think they want to stay warm and dry, we’ll look forward to seeing them in January.
Happy holidays!

INFORMATION FOR THE 1 DAY BKL PROGRAM:
Location: Ray School (Park in parent or bus drop-off circles or main parking lot, and walk to rear staff parking area) Time: 3:30-4:30 Technique: Dryland (Please wear tennis shoes; no skis needed!) IMPORTANT NOTES FOR TUESDAY 12/22:
Come celebrate the solstice with us! We’re planning a fun day in the woods, and are happy to have parents join us! We’ll be finishing off practice with candy-canes and hot chocolate. (Please send me a quick note if your child is NOT able to join us.)
Practice starts promptly at 3:30! Our coaches plan to leave the check-in area by 3:30. While we will try to accommodate late children, we cannot guarantee that your child can participate in practice if they arrive after 3:30. Likewise, please be ready to pick up your child by 4:30! It makes many children uncomfortable to return from practice and not see their parents – and it prevents our volunteers from returning home to their own children.
REMINDERS:
Lost and Found: We will have a small lost and found bucket by the K/1 check-in area. Please place any lost items in this bucket, and search the bucket if you are missing something.
Parking: Please park in the main parking lot, bus drop-off, or parent drop-off circles and walk your child to and from the sign-in location. DO NOT drive into the rear staff parking lot closest to the start of practice as this area becomes very crowded with children at the beginning and end of practice and has no good turnaround spot.
Sign-in: Please remember, all K/1 and 2nd grade students should be signed-in and out of practice by a parent. Children in 3rd or higher grades can sign themselves in, however our coaches still need a verbal or visual verification that their parent/guardian is present at sign-out. As a reminder, please make sure that your child is under adult supervision at the Ray School at all times before and after practice!
Bathrooms: Please make sure that your child has gone to the bathroom before practice starts. If needed, there are restrooms in the Ray School that can be used under adult supervision.
Clothing: Wear non-cotton layers, wool socks and running shoes (no winter boots), hat, and light gloves or mittens. See our What to Wear When you Ski page for more information. (If it is raining, please wear a waterproof outer layer on top.)

We hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing holiday and find creative ways to stay active in the great outdoors.
FORD SAYRE NEW YEAR’S FAMILY FUN EVENT:
Mark your calendar for the annual New Year’s Day Ford Sayre skiing event (and start doing snow dances!). Assuming we have snow, the event will be held on Friday, January 1st at 1pm at Thetford Academy. Join other Ford Sayre families and friends for a fun, informal series of short, easy cross-country races for both kids and parents, as well as some silly relays. All ages, all abilities welcome!
Let me know if you can bring a snack or cookies for after the events. See you on New Year’s Day!
