“Beginning XC Ski waxing Clinics in December. These are going to be cool, there will be different waxing stations set up so that everyone can get a chance to practice with the wax and tools. Each clinic will cover glide waxing and kick waxing, and are perfect for people getting involved in Ford Sayre or Bill Koch programs. Since these are hands on clinics, we need to limit each one to 10 people so you will need to sign up for one. The dates are Wednesday 12/2, Tuesday 12/8, and Thursday 12/17 and they will begin at 6:15pm right after regular store hours. These are free events and you can sign up by replying to this email or giving the shop a call 603 448 3522 .”

Our first snacks will be tomorrow at the end of practice! Please remember to bring something to share (homemade or store-bought). Anything snackable is welcome – cookies, chips, fruit. Questions, please e-mail jphipps24@myfairpoint.netCLOTHING:
Please send your skiers in appropriate clothing for wet and cold. No boots, please (it is surprisingly difficult to run and feel agile in winter boots:)). If you need a reminder of what to wear, we have suggestions here!
ZEALAND FALLS WINTER TRIP:
Every year a group of families skis in to Zealand Falls Hut during February break. This is not a club sponsored or supervised event but has become a tradition amongst families. If you are interested, check out the information at the link on the FS nordic site here.

HOLT’S LEDGE HIKE:
We had a blast hiking up Holt’s Ledge on Sunday with a large gang of BKL and JNT families! Thanks to all who brought goodies to share. Many thanks to Paddy Caldwell, U.S. Ski Team member, for joining us for the morning! Sorry to say that the parents got crushed in the tug-of-war challenge.
SNACKS AFTER PRACTICE THIS THURSDAY:
A note from our Snack Goddesses, Jane Phipps and Tracy Zuckerman:
Three times this season we will have snacks after practice. It’s a fun time for kids and parents to socialize after practice. Our first one will be this Thursday, November 19th. Another will be in January before the MLK holiday and then the final practice of the season in March. We will have a table set-up and provide drinks (cocoa, lemonade) and we have reusable cups for the kids.
We are asking families to please bring something to share (homemade or store-bought). Anything snackable is welcome – cookies, chips, fruit. We have over 100 kids in the program. We never had left-overs last year.
You may drop-off your contribution at 3:30pm on the 19th or bring it to the party – come find us by the far end of the parking lot.
Thanks,
Tracy Zuckerman & Jane Phipps
Questions, please e-mail jphipps24@myfairpoint.netPARKING LOT HELP:
Don’t ski but want to help our program by volunteering a bit of your time? Come help be a parking lot monitor. We need an adult in the parking lot/cabin for every practice. This adult helps direct the parking of cars as families arrive and then can sit in the small cabin to be with any skiers who might return mid-practice for whatever reason – cold hands, feet, etc. Please add your name to one or many practice days on the google doc here. We really do need your help!

Information from the 1 Day nordic program:
We are thrilled to welcome over 115 skiers to the 2015-16 One-Day a Week Nordic Program! (Registration closes Sunday night, November 15th, so we may have a few more friends when practices begin.) Thank you to the over 30 coaches and parent helpers who have already volunteered to help out. If you’re interested in helping out, drop me a note. We’d love to have you!
Ford Sayre Skiway Hike: We’ll be taking our annual hike up Holt’s Ledge this Sunday starting at 10:00am in the Dartmouth Skiway parking lot (Dartmouth Skyway, 39 Grafton Turnpike, Lyme Center, NH). Families and skiers will hike the trail up and descend by the ski slopes. We will meet at the top for snacks and socializing. Please wear appropriate layers – it can be chilly at the top when we stop. Feel free to bring something yummy to share if you are moved to do so.
Equipment: As a reminder, now is the time to make sure that you have your ski gear lined up for the winter! Please look at our ski gear information page to identify the type of information you need and where to find it. If you are having trouble, please let me know.
We’re looking forward to a great season!!

A quick reminder that we’ll be taking our annual hike up Holt’s Ledge this Sunday starting at 10:00am in the Dartmouth Skiway parking lot. Families and skiers will hike the trail up and descend by the ski slopes. 8th graders will meet up with the JNT (high school skiers) for a separate route up and we will all meet at the top for snacks and socializing. Please wear appropriate layers – it can be chilly at the top when we stop – and bring something yummy to share if you are moved to do so.
8th graders should bring short dryland poles if they have them. If not, no worries.
Cheers and hope to see you there!
