- General Logistics for All: Crazy Costumes, Snacks, 5:00 End of Practice February 5, 2015Ford Sayre 2&3 Day Families,
- Thanks to all of you who have volunteered some of your day on Saturday, February 14, to help with the Silver Fox Trot at Garipay fields. We appreciate your willingness to help. Unlike a soccer or a basketball game, ski races are major events and require months of planning and multitudes of volunteers. Please remember that we hope every family will take time to help with our program in some fashion. Even if your child does not race, please reach out to Lou Bregou at lou@flume.net, our race director, and offer your help. Helping at the Silver Fox Trot is a fantastic way to see some fun skiing, the whole family can be on skis, and you can feel good about giving back.
- SNOW and SNACKS! We are trying AGAIN! A combined 1 & 2 day program snack celebration is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, 2/10 after practice. There will be hot cocoa and yummy treats. We hope that you will bring food to share (homemade or store-bought) & join the festivities. We will have over 200 kids! Please e-mail Tracy if you plan to contribute. She can be reached at: tracyzuckerman@comcast.net
- Costumes and crazy hats! Both programs will be skiing at Garipay on Tuesday and it should be a blast. To get psyched for the Silver Fox races, we are inviting coaches and skiers to come clad in zany costumes and/or crazy hats. Crack open your costume box, pull out a tutu, your magician’s hat – whatever, and get ready for some fun!
- 5:00 End of Practice: The days are getting longer and the snow is dreamy, so from here until the end of the season, the 2&3 day kids will practice from 3:30 until 5:00.

Information for the 2&3 Day Program:
Location: Oak Hill Time: 3:30-4:30 Technique: classic Wax Recommendation: Blue, V30 hard wax – if you still have klister on your classic skis from earlier this season, spend some time to taking it off and then re-wax the kick zone with hard wax. The skiing is glorious right now and having good kick makes it even more fun! Upcoming Race: Nothin’ this weekend with us, but plenty out there on the NENSA calendar Notes:
- We’ll practice at Oak Hill tomorrow in an attempt to stay out of the wind and as warm as possible on the wooded trails. Please be prepared for dropping temperatures!
- There is a xc ski wax clinic at Omer and Bob’s this coming Thursday Feb 5th at 6:30pm. As always, it’s free and open to all and notably there will be a discount on any wax purchased at this clinic. I believe this clinic is for those who already know how to wax and want to understand the next level, but if you are interested, go here or give them a call and ask for details.
- Don’t forget the Hartland Tiki Torch Trek happening this Saturday night, the 7th, from 5-8. See our Community Events page for more information. Feel free to also contact Angela Mowbray (Nicoya’s mom) with questions: angelhike@gmail.com
- NH High School Ski Jumping Meet February 4, 2015
Ten New Hampshire schools brought their ski jumping teams to Oak Hill to compete on the evening of January 28. A glowing path of ice candles guided the spectators towards the jumps, where a good crowd gathered to cheer on the competitors. Hanover High School won the competition with 388 points, and 4 jumpers in the top 10. The event was well organized, and a lot of fun to watch! Thanks to Tihana Strnad for the photos and videos.
