- Last Day of Practice & Banquet to Celebrate End of Year March 2, 2015Dear Parents of 1-day a week Ford Sayre Nordic Program Skiers, FINAL PRACTICE: It is hard to believe that our season is almost over! Our final practice is tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3rd from 3:30-5:00 at Garipay Field. We plan to have a photo scavenger hunt for the first half of practice, followed by a mixed age ski celebration in the second half of the session (some fun relay races and activities). Feel free to join us! END OF THE YEAR BANQUET: Our celebratory End-of-the-Year Banquet is Friday, March 13, from 5:30-7:00 at the Black Center in Hanover. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend! The Banquet is potluck style, plus a bit of pizza ordered by the club. Please let us know how you can help and what you will bring by going to the google doc here. We hope everyone will bring something – AND, by signing up for food, you are also RSVPing to the event so we know how many people are coming! WONDERING WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR USED SKIS AT THE END OF THE SEASON?: If you have used skis that you are willing to donate to our program for the use of future Ford Sayre skiers, please bring them to the banquet. We will collect them and have them ready next season for interested families. Alternatively, you can post your used ski equipment to the Ford Sayre used equipment exchange – and look for the next size up! We hope to see you tomorrow and at the banquet! The last email about Friday’s practice was clearly meant for the three day skiers only! Sorry ’bout that.

Continue reading → - BKL Festival Information for March 7&8 February 26, 2015
Hello All,
It’s time to look ahead to the Bill Koch League Festival that will take place next weekend, March 7 & 8!
The Event: As many of you know, every year the season ends with an enormous festival consisting of two days of races for lollipoppers through 8th graders. This year, the festival will take place at Mt Top Inn and Resort in Chittenden, Vt, which is about 1 1/2 hrs from Hanover. For information about the festival, go to NENSA’s page here. On Saturday, kids will participate in skate relay races (teams are made by districts, not families), and on Sunday the kids will compete on classic skis in individual races. Over the course of the weekend there will also be tubing, terrain parks, ice cream making, paintball biathlon practice, and a new addition, “adventure events,” for kids who don’t want to participate in the races. Please register your child ASAP. Online registration closes on Saturday, 28 feb 15 @ 5 pm but it is helpful to do it earlier…before this weekend if possible. Go here to register. The Turkey dinner Saturday night is one that many usually attend, but it is up to each family to sign up as part of registration.
Lodging: FS families typically spend Friday and Saturday nights at a hotel to reduce travel time, but I know this year some families will be driving each day since Mt Top is not too far away. Many families will be staying in Rutland at the Best Western but these reservations were made a long time ago and I hear they are now full. I have been told that the Comfort Inn in Rutland has some rooms. From the NENSA site, it looks like rooms are also still available at the Hampton Inn, and the Days Inn. Click here for contact information. The Mendon View Lodge also has plenty of rooms. Click here for their website.
Also, Teresa Lust and her 8th grade daughter, Margo, have two extra spots in their room on Saturday night since her husband and son can’t come. If you would like to share a room with them, let her know at Teresa.lust@valley.net
Get Organized With Us: To help with our own club’s organization, if you plan to attend, please add your information to this google doc. Also, please sign up for a volunteer job to help us get the FS tasks done. Go to our Coaching and Volunteer document here. It was such a great team effort last year! Looking forward to a repeat.
Questions: Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have. We are here to help! bkl@fordsayre.org or call us at (802) 649-2159.
Cheers,
Ashley and Peter
