- End of Season Details March 7, 2015Dear 1-day a week BKL families, Thank you to the children, parents, and volunteers for coming together to create a wonderful ski season! END OF THE YEAR POTLUCK BANQUET! Please join us on March 13 (5:30-7:30 PM) at the Black Center in Hanover to celebrate the accomplishments of your children! Sign-up here to let us know that you can come. Please let me know if you have any pictures that you are willing to share with the program (and have included in the end of the year slideshow)! YOUR CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED A LOT! Be proud of your children! While the BKL program emphasizes having fun and developing a lifelong love of skiing, your children also have been mastering a number of introductory skills – and many are practicing or have mastered intermediate skills. For a description, see: Ford Sayre BKL Skills Assessment. KEEP SKIING WHILE YOU CAN! Our formal practices have ended, but the trails are still beautiful! We hope that you and your children continue to go skiing after school or on weekends. Of note, one of the incentives in the Passport to Winter Fun program is a 1/2 day pass for up to 5 people at the Dartmouth Cross Country Ski Trails! Four other area nordic centers also have incentives for children. If you don’t have a pass, this might be a great way for your children to show off their new skills! LOST AND FOUND I’ve collected many things over the past few weeks, including a pair of black adult gloves, a pair of black/green youth gloves, and a pair of youth gray ski poles. Please let me know if you think they are yours! GOOD LUCK to our Ford Sayre BKL Festival participants this weekend! Nearly 50 Ford Sayre skiers are at Mountain Top Resort this weekend participating in the BKL Festival! Good luck to our racers tomorrow in their individual classic races! Best wishes, Aricca; cell: 603-715-7233; bkl.one.day@fordsayre.org P.S. I love getting feedback on the program – and especially love to hear from the children in the program! I’ll be sending a survey after our banquet – so start thinking about what went well and what could be improved for next year!Continue reading →
- 8th Grade Send Off 2015 March 6, 2015
Thanks to everyone for a wonderful last practice. It is always a thrill to see the progress each skier has made over the season, and the 8th grade ceremony is the perfect way to end the season. If you weren’t able to be there, you can catch a glimpse in this video.
Thanks to Lars for being our photographer yesterday and to Jane and Tracy for providing delicious snacks.
We’ll see many of you at the festival this weekend and hope that everyone will continue to ski while the snow lasts!
With Gratitude,
Ashley and Peter

- Thanks to all for the truly wonderful day at Strafford on Sunday. A shout out to Strafford for hosting such a mellow, fun event. Let’s keep it going at the Festival!

- Banquet to Celebrate This Most Awesome of Seasons! March 2, 2015
All,
Hard to believe our season is almost over! Our final practice will be this Thursday, March 5, the Festival is Saturday/Sunday, March 7/8, and then our celebratory banquet is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, from 5:30-7:00 at the Black Center in Hanover. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend!
SIGN UP!:
The Banquet is potluck plus a bit of pizza ordered by the club. Needless to say, we eat well each year. Please let us know how you can help and what you will bring by going to the google doc here. Please do sign up since by signing up for food, you are also RSVPing to the event so we know how many people to expect.
SKI FOR KS FORMS:
Many of our skiers have been keeping track of the kilometers they have skied this season on a “Ski for K’s:” chart. Kids who have completed ski for k’s sheets this season should bring their sheet to the banquet to receive a pin. If you haven’t completed a sheet, it’s not too late. Go to the Ski for Ks tab on our site here to print one out. Then complete it and bring it in. You and your skiers can look back at the calendar and figure out a good estimate of how far they have skied. Also, please go to this form to let us know how many kilometers your child skied so we can be prepared with the correct number of pins.
DONATE USED SKIS:
If you have any used skis that you are willing to donate to our program for the use of future FS skiers, please bring them to the banquet. We are looking for combi, classic and skate skis as well as waxless for the One Day program. We will collect them and have them ready next season for interested families.
QUESTIONS?

Many thanks to Ursula Slate (Great and Elsa Bolinger’s mom) for organizing us for the third year in a row. We couldn’t do this without her!
Hope to see you there!
