What else is different this year?
In a “normal” year, 100% of the profits from our annual (in-person) Ski Sale are used to fund Ford Sayre scholarships. Because of COVID-19, and our switch to a Ski Swap as a safer alternative, we will be relying on the generosity of donors like you to fund scholarships. Please consider a donation, in any amount…Due to COVID-19 and related indoor restrictions, the annual Ford Sayre Ski Swap will have a different format this year…
DATE
Saturday, November 6, 2021
TIME
Set up: 11 am | Ski Swap: 12 -3 pm
LOCATION
The event will be held outdoors at Storrs Pond Recreation Area, in the parking lot in front of the Storrs Pond Pool.
DETAILS
This year’s event will be more of a true “swap,” where bartering is encouraged, as is trading skis, boots, poles and soft goods directly, or using currency of choice directly between buyers and sellers.
Equipment donations to Ford Sayre will be accepted (which Ford Sayre may choose to sell or give away, at its discretion). The primary goal of this year’s swap is to get quality alpine and nordic ski equipment out of the basement and into circulation. New and used ski gear is in short supply, which makes the Ski Swap especially important this year. All are welcome, however, and no one will be turned away.
The Ford Sayre website is hosting a spreadsheet with a list that families can populate, describing the equipment that they have to trade or sell (or that they are “in search of”). We encourage you to take inventory of the gear that you will be bringing and to list it on the spreadsheet, this will make connecting buyers and sellers easier on the day of the event.
In past years, Ford Sayre has taken a percentage of every purchase to support the scholarship fund for needy athletes. We will not be taking a percentage of trades or purchases this year. Instead, we ask that you consider making a donation to the Ford Sayre scholarship fund. This can be done online through the Ford Sayre website, or at the ski swap.
Food and beverages will be available.
A raffle will take place at the event. Raffle tickets may be purchased in advance through the website or on the day of the event. There are many fun and valuable prizes. The more tickets you buy, the better your chances of winning. Buy lots of tickets and you’ll be supporting Ford Sayre scholarships!
